William Rosenzweig is a 2010 recipient of the Oslo Business for Peace Award, an international honor recognizing his leadership in the realm of responsible business. Will is a serial entrepreneur, veteran educator and experienced venture investor. He currently serves as Senior Advisor to Generation Investment Management, a global investment management partnership chaired by Vice President Al Gore.
Most notable of his many entrepreneurial endeavors, Will was founding CEO of The Republic of Tea, the company that started a tea revolution (1992) and created the premium tea category in the United States.
A long-time member of the faculty at the Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley, Will developed the country’s first MBA courses in Social Entrepreneurship and Social Venture Development. He has been a visiting faculty member at London Business School and has taught extensively in business schools around the world. He currently teaches Edible Education 101 and Food Venture Lab at BerkeleyHaas and The Culinary Institute of America.
In 2007, Will co-founded Physic Ventures, the first venture capital firm focused on investing in keeping people healthy by supporting early stage companies in consumer-driven health and sustainable living.
Will’s passion is his garden in Healdsburg, California called “Ideagarden.” In talks and writings, he uses the garden as a metaphor to describe the organic process of designing and growing sustainable, regenerative ventures.
In 1992, Will co-authored The Republic of Tea: How an Idea Becomes a Business a best-selling book that has been named one of the 100 Best Business Books of all time.
