CEO, Bloom Farms
Born in San Francisco and raised on a ranch called Bloom Farms in the Sierra Foothill Mountains, Michael Ray is a cannabis advocate, lobbyist for social change and entrepreneur with a passion for technology and design.
In the late 1990s, Michael moved to New York City to start his trading career and, by 2001, had become one of his firm’s youngest and most successful traders. However, having grown weary of Wall Street’s “money first” mentality, Michael opted to return to California to explore new opportunities developing within the burgeoning legal cannabis industry.
At the heart of a West Coast social revolution, Michael found himself on the doorstep of a perfect opportunity: creating a uniquely universal cannabis product. Bloom Farms, named for the family ranch, has found success with experienced and novice cannabis consumers alike by focusing on high quality over high potency.
As CEO of Bloom Farms, Michael oversees day-to-day operations and ensures that Bloom Farms meets its first priority of making consistently high-quality cannabis products for California and Nevada consumers. He also manages the company’s 1-for-1 program: For every product purchased, Bloom Farms donates one healthy meal to a food-insecure family through California food banks. So far, over 1 million meals have been donated.
Bloom Farms is built upon the belief that cannabis can enhance a healthy, fulfilling lifestyle, and Michael has made removing the negative stigmas around cannabis use an integral part of his work. His passion for community is evident not only with the 1-for-1 initiative, but also in his public work with industry leaders, regulators and community leaders to legalize, regulate and legitimize California’s cannabis industry.
